For a while now, Shady Blu has been on the rise.
MixedByAli’s NoName Recordings signed the California singer/songwriter last year.
She and Ali had been collaborating since she shared some of her early work with the engineer, who has collaborated with Schoolboy Q and Kendrick Lamar, via Instagram.
With “Jealosy,” Shady has given fans a glimpse of her upcoming new project.
With spacious tropical synths backing Blu’s low-key vocals, it’s the perfect summer song.
Her music video amps up the summer mood even further, culminating in a backyard pool party.
The lyrics, on the other hand, are not so carefree.
Blu sings of friends who have been poisoned by envy.
“Are you truly mad that I’ve been blessed with success?” she sings.
Shady, on the other hand, is determined not to be depressed by the envy that surrounds her.
The hook, an earworm that glides over a laid-back beat, declares, “It won’t get the best of me.”
