Boldy James & Nicholas Craven Power Nap
Nicholas Craven and Boldy James sing a foreboding lullaby.
Boldy James has a long history of collaborating with accomplished producers. The rapper frequently collaborates with Alchemist and announced in June that he was preparing to release a J Dilla-produced record.
James has now teamed up with Nicholas Craven. Craven has previously collaborated with James, as well as with Westside Gunn, Benny the Butcher, and Roc Marciano. James and Craven create a low-key track with sinister undertones on “Power Nap.”
Craven’s production is reminiscent of earlier instrumentals on which Boldy has appeared. It’s nothing more than a snippet of a soul sample, with a voice crooning “Go to sleep” over glittering electric piano and guitar. While the song has a lullaby feel to it, James speaks of a more eternal sleep. In the song, he says, “Stick look like a sway bar, has massive AR with the Ferris wheel / Wake your whole hood up, let that Drake sing you a lullaby.”
