Benny The Butcher Welcome To The States
Benny is raising funds for the victims of last month’s Tops Supermarket tragedy.
In recent weeks, American headlines have been littered with tragedy after catastrophe, with a mass shooting in a grocery store in Buffalo, New York, killing ten people, followed by a similar occurrence at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, and another in Philadelphia.
With so much sadness in the air, many people have been looking for a way to help, and Benny the Butcher is stepping up to the plate.
On Monday, June 6th, he released “Welcome to the States,” a YouTube-exclusive track in which he raps over Kendrick Lamar’s Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers hit “We Cry Together.”
Rather than imitate a poisonous relationship, as K-Dot did with his guest, Taylour Paige, Benny sang about how America’s needless gun violence has made it a less than pleasant place to live, especially for Black people.
“Benny’s politically charged lyrics attempt to raise money for those affected by the sad mass shooting that occurred on May 14th at Tops Supermarket,” reads the video’s caption, which has already racked up over 1,000 likes in less than an hour.
