Johann Peter Rupert is a South African billionaire businessman. He is the eldest son of business tycoon Anton Rupert and his wife Huberte. Rupert is the chairman of the Swiss-based luxury goods company Richemont and Remgro, the South Africa-based company. He has been the CEO of Compagnie Financiere Richemont since April 2010. On the 2023 Forbes list, Rupert and family were ranked the richest in South Africa, with an estimated net worth of US$10.7 billion. Rupert is regarded as the second richest man in Africa as of 2023.

Rupert has been described as “reclusive” by the Financial Times and Barron’s, because he rarely gives interviews and shuns public events. He also owns part of the Saracens English rugby team and Anthonij Rupert Wines, which is named after his late brother.
