Sjava has successfully overcame obstacles in the South African music landscape for Afropop and hip-hop. He was one of the first musicians to effectively add a local flavor to the music, which allowed South Africans to embrace it wholeheartedly. The producer has finally released “Isibuko,” his fourth studio album, after much anticipation.
The isiZulu term for “mirror” is “isibuko.” The record is a mirror of the individual and of society at large. Sjava uses Isibuko as a way to encourage and motivate others as he reflects on the highs and lows of love and life’s never-ending struggles and victories.
