The Weeknd is ‘crushed and heartbroken’ by the cancellation of his Toronto concert due to a Rogers outage.
The Weeknd was scheduled to kick off his After Hours Till Dawn tour in his birthplace of Toronto on Friday night (July 8) at the Rogers Centre, but the performance was canceled due to a nationwide network outage at Rogers Communications.
“We regret to advise that The Weeknd tour stop at Rogers Centre has been postponed due to service failures disrupting venue operations,” said the Toronto Blue Jays, who also play at the Rogers Centre. A replacement show date will be announced as soon as possible, and all tickets will be honored. We recognize how disappointing this is and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.”

Rogers Communications has provided no reason for the nationwide outage, including how long it is expected to persist or how many subscribers were affected. Fans were noticeably unhappy by the cancellation, which occurred just hours before the event was scheduled to begin.
“The Weeknd was onsite and ready to play, but due to the nationwide Rogers network outage, The Weeknd event planned for this evening at Rogers Centre will be postponed as the venue’s operations & infrastructure are not viable until full service is restored,” said tour promoter Live Nation. Please keep your ticket safe. Updates on a new date will be provided as soon as possible.”
Abel also used Instagram stories to apologize to fans for the inconvenience. He wrote, “I’m crushed and heartbroken.” “We’ve been at the venue all day, but it’s out of our hands due to Rogers’ indignation.” Operations and safety are jeopardized, despite my best efforts. This one is the most painful, and we will make it happen, but not tonight. I know how long you’ve been anticipating this moment and how hard many of you worked to get to the show and share it with me. I can’t wait to see everyone.”
