Ingredients required

To make homemade butter easily at home, there are just 5 things required – Homemade ghee, salt, turmeric powder, hot water, baking soda/fruit salt and a few ice cubes.

How to make homemade butter from ghee

  • To make this butter, take a large bowl and pour 2-3 cups of hot water into it. Take 1 cup of ghee in a bowl and put this bowl in the centre of this hot water. The ghee needs to be in liquid form and make sure that you do not put it over the gas. It takes 2-3 minutes to completely melt the ghee.
  • Once the ghee is melted, transfer it to another clean bowl. Add a pinch of salt to this melted ghee with a pinch of turmeric. Next, add fruit salt/baking soda to the ghee. Now, give everything a good stir. Afterwards, add 6-7 ice cubes to this bowl and stir the ghee using a spoon. You can also use your hands to make the butter. The ice cubes react with this mixture to solidify the ghee and this in turn makes the fresh butter, which looks just like you get in the stores.
  • Once you get the solidified mixture, squeeze the butter and put it in another bowl. You will see that the water and ice cubes separate when you use this trick. Now, take a beater and beat this solidified butter continuously until you achieve a soft peak, which is fluffy and smooth. The colour of this butter will also lighten after some beating. Transfer this butter to a butter dish or a container and put it in the fridge for 1 hour. After an hour, when you take the butter dish out, it would have transformed into the classic butter with beautiful colour and a delicious taste.
