DJ Drama blasts Roc Nation for running a “Free Lil Uzi Vert” campaign while the label was in trouble.
DJ Drama has spoken out about his previous predicament with Lil Uzi Vert, who was public about his dissatisfaction with his label, Generation Now.
Uzi stated his displeasure with DJ Drama, Don Cannon, and Lake’s label Generation Now in 2019, accusing them of unfair contracts and obstructing the release of his Eternal Atake album. The matter became much more difficult when it was revealed that Uzi had signed a management deal with Roc Nation.
The media portrayed Roc as stepping into the scene to “rescue” Uzi from his horrible condition with Generation Now, but Drama claims that it was really unjust to them. In a new interview with Rory & Mal, Drama claims his current relationship with Uzi is in a “great place,” but he isn’t thrilled with how Roc Nation tried to paint him (along with Don Cannon and Lake) as the evil guy.
“‘Roc Nation saves Lil Uzi’… from whom? Drama stated. “We didn’t do anything wrong by the kid; all we did was assist him become a superstar.”
Dram went on to say that this isn’t really a criticism of Jay-Z because he’s a fan, but “don’t represent us as the evil guys, get the f*ck outta here with that bullsh*t.” Watch the video above.
