Breaking! SA Jazz musician, Jonas Gwangwa dies at 83

The South African music industry has lost another legend as the honor winning jazz performer, Jonas Gwangwa was declared dead on Saturday.

It’s disheartening that his passing falls on the third commemoration of Hugh Masekela’s demise and the third commemoration of Oliver Mtukudzi’s passing.

The trombone player who passes on at age 83 has been a significant figure in SA jazz for more than 0 years.

In a recognition for Gwangwa, President Cyril Ramaphosa says: 0;Jonas Gwanga rises to our extraordinary symphony of melodic precursors whose innovative virtuoso and commitment to the opportunity of all South Africans roused millions in our nation and activated the global local area against the politically-sanctioned racial segregation framework.”
